This was a wedding present for my sister Sara and her longtime beau Paul who got married over the weekend. They raise and show Jack Russell Terriers and this little sweetie has been with them a long time - she was even the ring bearer at there wedding. If you like Jack Russells, you can check-out their website here.

Congratulations, Sara and Paul!

"Summer Creek"

8" x 10"

Oil on hardboard panel

Sold

This is Coal Creek near Lafayette, Colorado. The creek is running really high right now - I had to finish this one before the afternoon thunderstorms started to build-up. We never ended-up getting any rain, but it sure looked threatening for a while.

"Above Chautauqua Park"

6" x 6"

Oil on fiberboard panel

Sold

Sometimes you can't always wait for a sunny day to paint - although around here you usually don't have to wait long. Despite the clouds, I managed to make it over to the foothills at the edge of Boulder to do a couple of paintings. This one was done near the base of the Flatirons above Chautauqua Park - looking out over the city of Boulder. The red in the middle-ground is the red tile of the University of Colorado buildings.

A little Rocky Mountain lake scene on a calm afternoon... this time of year, it's always the calm before the storm, or the calm after the storm... such is Springtime in the Rockies.

"McGraw Ranch Cabin"

8" x 10"

Oil on fiberboard panel

Sold

This is a little one-room cabin at the McGraw Ranch near Estes Park, Colorado. I worked at the ranch in the '80s and ended up being caretaker of the place when it was being sold to the government. Lucky for me, it took an act of congress (literally) to get the funds necessary for the sale - so the caretaker job lasted a little longer than I first thought it would.

The ranch is now part of Rocky Mountain National Park. At first the Park Service wanted to bulldoze the buildings, but fortunately the National Historic Society stepped in and saved them. This little cabin is one of the oldest buildings still standing on the ranch, although I think the barn might be a little older.
