"McGraw Ranch Cabin"

8" x 10"

Oil on fiberboard panel

Sold

This is a little one-room cabin at the McGraw Ranch near Estes Park, Colorado. I worked at the ranch in the '80s and ended up being caretaker of the place when it was being sold to the government. Lucky for me, it took an act of congress (literally) to get the funds necessary for the sale - so the caretaker job lasted a little longer than I first thought it would.

The ranch is now part of Rocky Mountain National Park. At first the Park Service wanted to bulldoze the buildings, but fortunately the National Historic Society stepped in and saved them. This little cabin is one of the oldest buildings still standing on the ranch, although I think the barn might be a little older.
