"Foothills Trail Study"

5" x 7"

Oil on hardboard panel
SOLD

This is a quick study I did from a plein air painting I did a couple of years back that my Mom has. I'm thinking of doing a larger studio painting of it, and I wanted to play around with the placement of the junipers a little.
The original plein air painting was done at the Hall Ranch in the foothills near Lyons, Colorado when I was painting with my (then) ten year old son in tow. He was big on The Jeff Corwin Show at the time, and spent the whole time turning over rocks looking for lizards and rattle snakes. Fortunately, he didn't find any.

My Mom, who is also an avid hiker, had hiked this trail about the same time, so she ended up with the original painting.
